My Services
Being a writer is often a long and lonely process. A dramaturg can be a sounding board for ideas, as well as helping with the technicalities, and enable you to move your script forward more quickly than plugging away on your own.

Script Report
As a freelance reader for film, TV and theatre companies I have written reports on hundreds of scripts, across all genres, and understand what producers are looking for when commissioning - and what they are not.
A script report comprises analysis of your script, assessing the plot/structure, characters, dialogue, audience appeal and budget. Through specific and detailed notes on all of the key elements outlined above, I will provide constructive feedback on your script, identifying what works well and areas for development. I”m really happy to follow-up on any questions you might have regarding the report too, and look at next steps
A script report is particularly useful in the early draft stages of writing and can help a writer decide which direction to take it in, or how to develop the plot and characters. Being confident in your choices early on can save a good deal of work and re-drafting further down the line.

Script Edit
As a literary manager and editor, I have worked extensively with early-career writers and know the New Writing network well. Once you have been through a few drafts of your script a full edit will help you prepare for sending it out into the big, wide world of commissioning.
Editing a script proffers all of the analysis and feedback involved with a script report, plus I will streamline the dialogue, look at how the characters mesh together and, if necessary, advise on changes to the overall structure or scene sequence to maximise dramatic impact. Has the script lost the plot? Do the characters have individual voices? Is it telling the audience too much, rather than showing? These are all common issues that an editor can help writers work through. Following on from the edit, I will meet with you to talk over ways in which you can develop your script further and promote it.
Most scripts go through 10-12 drafts before making it onto the stage or screen, so writers often come back for further edits before feeling ready to approach production companies. I have worked with a regular coterie of writers in this way over several years.
